Improvement

If you click on this, I think you can see an enlargement. I'm wearing mineral makeup, which camouflages the spots, but it did not hide the new wrinkles and does not hide the new crop of bumps. For now, I'm thrilled that my moisture balance seems to be in line again. Emu oil and sunscreen during the day are all I've been using.

When the bumps are gone, I want to get busy eliminating the brown spots. This time I'll be more conservative about the amount of rolling and light treatments.

Five Days Later

I got advice to stop everything I had been doing - potions and devices - and start applying emu oil several times a day. I did. This is how I look five days later.

The wrinkles have toned down considerably. The outrageous splotches and bumps are still there. I seem to have a bunch of pitted scars that I didn't notice earlier. Isn't that just dandy!

Don't Hate Me for Being Beautiful!

And don't be frightened . . .

I did roots today. DH suggested I take a picture because I'm so attractive. It's about time for new photos, anyway. I think two weeks have passed since the worst of my damage has started to heal. What's left besides paler scars are some redness where the Botox went in around my eyebrows last week and fine wrinkling that I think has to do with using products that are too harsh and a little drying for my skin.

I found out in the eds forum that I was doing far too frequently what should be once every two weeks with the dermaroller and once a week with LightStim. I stopped both to give my skin a rest. I'm going to start again today on the correct schedule. But first, I'm going to shave the peach fuzz off my face, particularly my nose. Doing home treatments and taking photos of my imperfections give me a great amount of perverse amusement.

I'm not sure if the wrinkles are from dehydration or if they're the kind that Retin-A will fix. I'm going to get an opinion from the forum.

Does It Do Any Good?

The lighting is a little different for these before and after shots, but the problem - the spots and discolorations I've been treating for three months - is still there. There are additional new spots in the center of my forehead.

Somehow, I don't believe that the red spots are new skin. I think I've merely irritated the old ones and caused new spots to form with my at-home Dermaroller and LightStim treatments.

The eyebrow spot is faded, thanks to a dermatology treatment; but it will be back.

I read an interesting thread on the SAS forum, which is headed by a biochemist. She says that the damage we do with devices and harsh chemicals (like liquid nitrogen) causes spots to form. So, for all that time and money, I've hurried along the aging process.
